About us

Our Proud History – A Story of Service and Renewal

Montgomery County residents have long valued education. As early as 1812, the history of people and buildings dedicated to learning has been chronicled and is kept by the Mt. Sterling Public Library & Museum.  The building was used by the public school system from 1889 to the 1980s when Mt. Sterling Highschool was replaced with more modern facilities.  In 2013, Lexington real estate developer Darren Turner saw an opportunity to bring this building back and provide new life for the historic structure.
Pictures of the renovation can be found archived by Abandoned Online .

Sterling Meadows Today

Our focus is on being THE assisted living community to meet the needs of Montgomery County residents. Our services enable our residents to stay engaged in activities and people they have always loved. The residents can learn new activities and form new friendships much easier than they could living alone.  Residents tell us that they have gotten their lives back and that they wish they had made the decision sooner.

Community Involvement

We believe our role is a member of the community, not just as a service provider in Mt. Sterling.  We accomplish this by participating with local civic groups, hosting community events in our Ballroom, and educating the residents of Montgomery County with quarterly lunch and learns about senior care and services.  If you want to get involved with our residents feel free to reach out.

The Sterling Meadows Team

Anna Preus, Managing Director

I am originally from the Mississippi Delta but moved to Kentucky in 2008 to further my education and fell in love with the area.  My passion to serve Seniors began as a young child, as I was always ready to help my grandparents at any time, even if they just wanted me to drive them on country roads.  My career in senior living started when I received my certification to be a State Certified Activities Professional in KY and served people in a community in Lexington, KY for 5 yrs.  During my time as a Life Enrichment Director, I studied about Dementia and Alzheimer’s thoroughly because I lost my grandmother to Parkinson’s and wanted to help others care for their loved ones. I eventually became a certified Dementia caregiver, a Dementia Champion, a member of Dementia Friendly Lexington, a State Register Nurse Aide, then continued my Education through Purdue Global University obtaining my Master’s in Health Care Administration.  After I graduated with my Master’s, I accepted the role as Executive Director here, and it my goal to create a safe home for all seniors who need assistance, to bring them joy, love, and the ability to thrive in their later years.

Cameron Wells, Resident Service Director

I am a lifelong Kentuckian that believes in hard work and the betterment of the community.  My sister was the first person who suggested I may find a career in Senior Living.  My favorite part of my job is hearing about stories of our residents’ lives, and helping share those stories.  I want to help our residents make new stories, and enjoy their lives to the fullest.  That is why I have dedicated myself to senior care.  Being part of the Sterling Meadows community has taught me compassion, resilience, and the importance of a wonderful team.  My hobbies are hiking, kayaking, fishing, you can find me outdoors anytime I’m not at work.

Our Ownership & Management-The 2nd Generation

Cliff White, President

I have been in and around Senior Housing for as long as I can remember. I spent my childhood performing preventative maintenance with my grandfather, and basic accounting in communities developed by my parents. Over the past 15 years I have spent my energy on identifying and implementing technologies in Senior Housing to improve the lives of our Residents, Team Members as well as improve the business outcomes. I have an MBA in Finance from American University, and a B.S. in Accounting from The University of Tampa. I am an inactive CPA and have held positions in both national and local senior housing organizations. Over the past few years, I have stepped back from the national associations to start a new family with my wife Lindsey, and we now have two young boys Wade and Walter.

Susan Abercrombie, VP of Community Operations

I have been a Nurse for over 38 years and an ALF Administrator for the last 16 years. My passion is with the Senior population. I love hearing all the stories they have of growing up and working and of their families. They have so much to offer us with wisdom. In my free time I enjoy hiking and being outdoors and spending time with my family. I also love meeting new people and making friends wherever I go.
